  • A Little Faith, a Little Hope, and a New Chapter Ahead

    Sometimes, the most beautiful things in life begin with a simple leap of faith.

    When I began writing A Christmas Room, I had no idea that the characters who came to life on those pages would become part of a much larger story.

    Sarah, Billy, their children, and the farmhouse filled with memories, love, and faith became so dear to me that I simply wasn’t ready to say goodbye when the story ended.

    And so, The Seasons of Faith series was born.

    What began with a Christmas Eve unlike any other continues in A Spring Garden, a story of hope, healing, and renewal. As the Ellis family moves from winter into spring, they discover that even in life’s most uncertain moments, God is at work in ways we may not immediately understand.

    I’m so excited to share this next chapter with you when the time comes!

    A New Way to Stay Connected

    I’ve also decided to begin something new here on my website—a little place where we can stay connected beyond the pages of my books.

    From time to time, I’ll share reflections on faith and everyday life, thoughts about writing, behind-the-scenes glimpses into my stories, and news about upcoming books.

    No overflowing inboxes or daily emails. Just an occasional note from me to you.

    My hope is that these messages will offer a little encouragement, a smile, or perhaps a reminder that God is present in the ordinary moments of our lives, as well as the extraordinary ones.

    Through Every Season

    One thing I’ve learned is that life rarely unfolds exactly as we imagine.

    There are seasons of joy and celebration, seasons of uncertainty and waiting, and seasons when we find ourselves holding tightly to faith.

    But through them all, God’s love remains constant.

    That’s the heart of The Seasons of Faith. And in many ways, it’s the heart of what I hope to share with you here.

    One More Hug

    Who wouldn’t give anything for one more hour with someone we’ve loved and lost? ❤️

    There are many beautiful characters, scenes, and stories within stories that are all part of A Christmas Room.

    But there is also a common thread that ties them all together—the love of Christ and His promise of a life beyond this one. A life more beautiful than any of us could ever imagine.

    While writing A Christmas Room, I let my faith guide me. I truly felt the Holy Spirit at work with every page I wrote. I prayed for guidance and trusted where the story was leading me.

    A Christmas Room is a story about faith, family, finding the strength God gives us when life knocks us down, and remembering to thank Him through all of it—the good, the bad, the ugly, and the magnificent.

    There’s nothing extraordinary about the characters in A Christmas Room. A divorced mother raising two children. A woman who loves to bake and take piano lessons. A man who lost his wife and moves back to his hometown with his son.

    They are everyday, ordinary people who experience the extraordinary.

    I see glimpses of God around me every day. In the rising sun, the birds at my feeder, the family of deer who occasionally visit, and in my family and friends. I see Him in the beauty this struggling world still shows us, if only we take the time to look.

    I see Him in the strength He gives me when my well is depleted, and in the hope of Christ that lives in my heart.

    When I think about my parents, who are both in Heaven with Jesus, I feel them near. That divine thread of love that connects us may be unseen, but that doesn’t make it any less real to me.

    And yes, I’ve wondered: What if I had one more chance to see them? To talk to them? To hug them?

    One more hug.

    Wouldn’t that be something?

    It’s my hope that A Christmas Room not only provides you with a moving story, but also rekindles the hope of Christ within your heart, all year long.

  • The Stories I’m Called to Write

    Sometimes it takes a while to find the words for something you already know in your heart.

    As I’ve continued writing my Seasons of Faith series, I’ve thought a lot about the kinds of stories I’m drawn to tell—and why I feel called to tell them.

    I write about ordinary people living ordinary lives: families gathering around a table, children growing up, people falling in love, facing loss, healing, struggling, laughing, praying, and finding their way through the different seasons of life.

    But woven through those ordinary moments is something more.

    I love stories where the veil between Heaven and earth grows thin. Where signs and wonders appear in unexpected places. Where a moment can feel too perfectly timed to be coincidence. Where those we love in Heaven don’t always seem quite so far away.

    And through it all, Christ is at the center.

    My faith is not something I add to my stories after they are written. It is why I write them in the first place.

    When I feel inspired to write, it feels like the Holy Spirit is gently tapping me on the shoulder.

    I want to tell stories about family, faith, hope, healing, second chances, and the presence of God in our everyday lives. Stories that acknowledge that life can be difficult and uncertain, while reminding us that we never walk through those seasons alone.

    A Christmas Room – A Tale of Faith, Love & Light began that journey for me. Now, as I write A Spring Garden – A Tale of Hope, Healing, and Renewal and look ahead to A Fall Harvest, I realize these aren’t simply individual books.

    They are different seasons in the lives of people I have come to love writing about—and different opportunities to explore the ways God works through those lives.

    Perhaps that is what The Seasons of Faith means to me most.

    There are seasons of joy and seasons of sorrow. Seasons of waiting, healing, beginning again, and giving thanks. And sometimes, in the middle of an otherwise ordinary day, Heaven feels just a little closer.

    These are the stories I’m called to write.

    Christmas may still be a few months away, but somehow, it has a way of arriving before we know it.

    As I look ahead to the season this year, I’m especially grateful to see A Christmas Room heading into another Christmas season and finding its way into the hands of new readers.

  • Introducing The Seasons of Faith

    There are four seasons in a year—but there are many seasons in life.

    When I first began writing the Four Seasons of Faith series, I imagined four books—one for each season. But as the Ellis family’s story has continued to grow, I’ve realized something: their journey doesn’t have to end when the four seasons do. There are so many seasons in a family’s life—seasons of joy and struggle, loss and healing, change and new beginnings, and seasons when faith carries us through places we never expected to go.

    So, I’ve made a small change that feels like a very big possibility. Four Seasons of Faith is now The Seasons of Faith—a name that leaves the door open for the Ellis family’s story to continue wherever God, life, and a little inspiration may lead them.

    A Christmas Room – A Tale of Faith, Love & Light began the journey, introducing readers to Sarah, Billy, and the family whose lives have become so dear to me. A Spring Garden – A Tale of Hope, Healing, and Renewal continues their story and is coming soon. And I’m already working on the next book, A Fall Harvest, which will carry the family into another season of change, challenges, blessings, and faith.

    As the series grows, readers can expect the things that have been at its heart from the beginning: faith, family, friendship, clean romance, the comforts of home, and characters facing the joys and struggles that come with real life.   • Behind the Story: Sarah’s Piano

    🎹

    One of the questions I’m asked from time to time is where the ideas for my novels come from.

    The truth is, many of them begin with ordinary moments from my own life.

    The piano Sarah teaches lessons on and plays in A Christmas Room is much like the Baldwin piano in my own home. As a piano teacher for many years, it felt natural to make music an important part of Sarah’s world.

    Every lesson I’ve taught, every student who has sat beside me, and every quiet moment spent playing has shaped who I am. In many ways, those experiences found their way into the pages of my novel.

    When I write, I often borrow little details from real life—not to tell my own story, but to make my fictional world feel authentic. A familiar room. A favorite view from a window. A treasured keepsake. These small touches help bring the characters to life.

    I love knowing that readers are experiencing places inspired by pieces of my own world, even if they don’t realize it.

    Sometimes the smallest details tell the biggest stories.

    I’m looking forward to sharing more of these “Behind the Story” moments with you in the weeks ahead.

  • A Special Delivery

    This week, I had the joy of mailing three signed copies of A Christmas Room to the winners of my very first Christmas in July giveaway.

    There was something special about preparing each package.

    Each book included a handwritten blessing, a Christmas bookmark, and a festive Christmas mailer. I wanted every package to feel like opening a Christmas gift, even in the middle of summer.

    One of the greatest blessings of this giveaway wasn’t simply giving away books—it was reading your stories. Thank you to everyone who shared your favorite Christmas memories, family traditions, and treasured photos. Your comments were thoughtful, heartfelt, and a beautiful reminder of what Christmas truly means.

    As I addressed each package, I found myself praying for the readers who would soon open them. My hope is that A Christmas Room brings faith, hope, and love into each of their homes, and reminds them that God is always present, even in life’s quietest moments.

    To everyone who participated, thank you for making this first giveaway such a memorable experience. It certainly won’t be the last!

  • Following God’s Lead

    People sometimes ask what it’s like to write a novel.

    The truth is, it’s a journey of faith.

    There have been moments of self-doubt, weariness, and times when I’ve questioned whether I had the ability to tell the story God placed on my heart. More than once, I’ve wondered if I was the right person to write it.

    Each time those thoughts came, I gave them to Him.

    Instead of letting doubt have the final word, I prayed for wisdom, perseverance, and the courage to keep writing one page at a time. Looking back, I can see that every obstacle became another opportunity to trust God more deeply.

    Writing has done far more than help me tell a story. It has deepened my relationship with the Lord.

    As I write, I try to follow His lead, trusting that He knows where each story should go far better than I do. My prayer has never been simply to write a good novel. My prayer is that whatever I write will honor Him and touch the hearts of those who read it.

    If a reader closes one of my books with a little more faith, a little more hope, and a reminder that God is present even in life’s ordinary moments, then I will be grateful.

    I don’t know where this writing journey will lead next, but I do know Who is leading it.

    And for that, I give Him all the glory.
